Artist Statement

I am a painter who proposes to create hope and empowerment through my work for those who have others dependent on them. I am interested in how bodies are contained within an interior feminine space in my paintings to tell my story; playing flat colour against detail. Much like how I draw. The ‘gaze’ has been and will continue to be an important element to carry my dialogue through my drawings and paintings. There are different types of love and therefore different types of gazes to one another as human beings and as painters. I am a strong advocate for equality for women within the arts and for painting to be seen as a language in its own right.
